Leading Aviation Service Provider

Context

A leading provider of industrial aviation services uses eApp(name changed), a web application used to manage flights and crew in all their bases.

This is a long running project and a critical feature that is recently developed is not used well by business community. This case study talks all about  how this feature is revamped.

My Role and Achievement

Root cause of not using the functionality was found and few prototype was presented to business and tested. Successfully deployed a design that made user to use it without any confusion.

  • Extensive data research was required to understand each entities importance and its usage frequency. Last 2 years data was studied.
  • Collaboration with business analysts to identify all important scenarios
    that to be covered in the screen.
  • Closely worked with Development team to identify and overcome implementation challenges.

Problem Statement

  • Business users feels that the existing flight requirement functionality is not helping much to perform the complex Scheduling.
  • User is not comfortable to use the system as there is no visibility of the changes that is made after an operation

Root Cause Identification/Feature & Data Study

From the research and data analysis,

  • 98% of the flight requirements changes were for the period 1 to 30 Days time frame
  • Data that are frequently changed in flight requirements are Pricing,
    routes and frequency
  • Filter criteria used by business users are Client and Contracts

Result

Business was happy with the revamp and it saved their precious time on an average 2 mins per flight.
